Tasting the ‘New’ Laddie 10 year old

So, here comes the post about the much awaited Laddie 10. The first bottling of a 10 year old distilled after the distillery was “resurrected” so to speak. I was really keen on trying it and got a bottle even before i sampled it, seeing raving reviews from Serge(whiskyfun), and others. Today I’ve spotted another enthusiastic review by John Hansell  …

Tasting 6 Arrans with friends of WI society

I’ve reviewed only a few arrans until now on the blog (mostly special releases), and was very keen on expanding my experience and getting to know more of the Arran line-up. It’s always nicer tasting malts in company, so I popped over to Richard’s where we were to meet with Shai and drink a few wee drams by Arran. I …

SMWS Ardbeg , 33.70 , “Keith Richards Meets Socrates Classics”

The Second tasting notes of SMWS bottling, as promised. This time an Ardbeg, aged in Sherry casks (Sherry Gorda) for 10 years. A sherry Ardbeg is always something interesting, as most OBs are not sherry matured. I find that Sherry and Peat is a pairing i quite like (Uigedail for example, Classic of Islay 9 yo, Lagavulin 21 etc.…) . …

The Tweeddale Blend

I love whisky, and i love whiskies with interesting story and history behind them even more! The Tweeddale blend is such a one. So before diving into the nose, palate it’s just appropriate to tell it’s story. I’ve heard great things about the whisky, but only after sampling it and doing some research i heard about the extraordinary story behind it…
It all …

Quick Dram – BenRiach Curiositas

I’ve reviewed a couple of Peated Benriachs before (The Arumticus Fumosus & Heredotus Fumosus) and quite liked those back then. Both were finished heavily peated expressions, and it’s interesting to try a non-finished young peated BenRiach. That’s what the Curiositas is, exactly!
Benriach Curiositas , 10 yo , 40% ABV, £27 (buy here)

Nose: Peat, sort of dusty  peat, underneath sits some …

Whisky Israel Society Summit #3 – Highland Park

Two months passed since the Whisky Israel Society summit #2 (which was all about Sherry aged whiskies), and it was time (long overdue) for summit #3. The idea for this summit’s theme was actually raised at the end of its previous as we had one Highland Park (1994), which was not all that impressive, and as some of the lads …

Japanese Whiskies Tasting Event

If you’re a constant reader of Whisky Israel, you might have noticed that Gal wrote several posts about Japanese whiskies, and also, that as part of the Whisky Israel Society many of us fell in love with the Nikka Whisky from the Barrel we’ve tried as part of our second summit.
Well so it happened that the Israeli Whisky Society (not …

Tasting 3 Glengoyne

The Glengoyne distillery is located in the ‘Highlands’ whisky region at Dumgoyne, north of Glasgow. Founded in 1833 and still operating, it distils whisky without the use of peat as means to dry the barley. Instead, Hot air is used. The Glengoyne is currently owned by Ian McLeod, and uses a slower  distillation process which is  one-third of the normal …
